A Fresh Look at what to "Give Up" for Lent.....

Whether you are Christian or not, many people celebrate Shrove Tuesday with pancakes and then decide on 40 days of "giving something up" to improve their health or their life.

Given that "giving up" is a restorative concept by which I mean the focus is on less. Less chocolate, less sugar, less moaning, less negativity or whatever your "less" is I thought I'd approach Lent in a Re-organisational way.

Re-Organisational Health and Living is about increasing resourcefulness and being more. So I looked for something that if I did it every day would increase or improve me. I settled on meditation. I've been in and out of it for a while so committing for 40 days seemed the perfect opportunity to embed this healthy habit into my psyche and daily routine.

And then I asked friends and family - did they have any ideas what they could do in this model. Here's some of what they came up with.....

  • walk every day
  • eat minimum 5 portions of vegetables every day
  • say personal growth affirmations daily
  • celebrate every day - it doesn't matter how small the thing is you are celebrating
  • do a small act of kindness for someone else

There must be so many more wonderful ideas. Please email them to me or share on facebook or as a comment on the website.
